 A Mountain of… Pastures
International graphic art and illustration competition · Forte di Bard, Aosta Valley · 2026

A Mountain of… Pastures is the second edition of the A Mountain of… series. It is an international graphic art and illustration competition organized by Alina Art Foundation with Forte di Bard, within the European project TransiT.

The theme was alpine pastures, transhumance and the communities that still shape mountain life. We asked artists for something harder than a postcard. We wanted works that look at the mountain as it was, as it is and as it could become, without nostalgia.

381 emerging artists from 18 countries answered the call. An international jury selected the finalists, whose works were exhibited at Forte di Bard until 6 September 2026.

The exhibition on tour – 2027
The finalists’ exhibition is preparing to travel. It will be hosted by art academies and cultural institutions in Italy and abroad. Dates and venues will be published here.

The series
Every edition of A Mountain of… starts from one word and one aspect of the mountain. The first edition, A Mountain of… Signs, focused on glaciers and the marks left on the landscape. Pastures moves the focus from the landscape to the people who still live and work in it.

Una Montagna di… Pascoli
